Marsun Received Order for First M58 Patrol Gun Boat

According to an interview with the Marsun company shown that the Royal Thai Navy Navy has selected a new patrol gun boat project. The Navy boat was the Marsun M58 which is expected to have a signed contrat soon.


The M58 vessel model is smaller than the M65 model which is bigger and had the stern to mounts missile launcher against surface ships.  The M58 is light but have the actual design has been completed, while the M65 is still the concept. The Navy has selected the M58, which has weight approximately to 530 tons.



The fire control system and the battle management system to be close to the HTMS  Sattahip class ships, which the first update to use Thales system. A major systems such as battle management system uses TATICOS and fire control system with  Electro Optical Tracking System uses Mirador.



M56 armed with naval artillery OTO Melara 76/62 at the bow, one 30mm gun machine MSI DS-30 at the stern, 0.50 inch barrel gun  and also designed the flexible room to carrying support missions or armed with light anti-surface ship missile.


Representatives of the Marsun company said the patrol gun boat is set to replace the set of Huahin class : HTMS Huahin (541), HTMS Klang (542) and HTMS Sriracha (543), which built by Asian Marine Services and Royal Thai Naval Dockyard. Three ships simultaneously active in 2001, armed with main naval gun of 76/50 and the Bofors gun 40/60.


However, this is very much a Navy command ship designed and built by Thailand itself, continuous in a series of patrol boats gun, since the HTMS Sattahip ship was active in 1993 (30 years later) that the project will continue. The first boat of M56 has budget 700 million baht.
